i watch you from across the
street as you wait for an opening or a
glowing green signal that
it\'s safe to move again.
you stare at the puddles
covering your feet, and i want to take this
flood and throw it all over us;
we\'ll watch this season
drip away as we hang ourselves out to
dry beneath swollen storm clouds.

but i just stand
silently, drenched in the
knowledge of every droplet and its
perfect symmetry.

have you got this terrifying notion that this is not a shared experience? just synchronized, solitary moments bound by belief in this alone? is there anything left to smoke? i feel like i'm drowning. you talk to me in code. staring at a wooden footbridge, you say, "it's a marvel of construction. two weaknesses combine to become a strength." - the paperbacks.

(i wish i knew how much longer the rain could last.)

the weight of rain by yourotherleft

This is simply an addition to an already beautiful collection of poetry, but with a phrase such as "and i want to take this
flood and throw it all over us;", this poem moves into a beautifully romantic league all on its own.

Times I feel I wanna shout, man it's real that way
When I think of things that make you feel that way...

That made my day.

I like the way it was said. And the description of both the enviroment and the person. The way this was written was fantastic. Like a "what I would do if I could do it" poem. Movie-like almost.

Rain is wonderful as is this poem.

i'm absolutely loving this. i love the rain, i love this poem. something about it speaks to me. perhaps because i can hear the rushing water pounding against my windows. perhaps because i'm like the rain. anyway, well done.

my favorite lines:
drenched in the
knowledge of every droplet and its
perfect symmetry.

was my favorite part. your writing is so... intricately comfortable. it has an infinite feeling to it. where all knowledge is captivated. beautiful poetry indeed.

i liked this awesomely... the only criticism i had is that i didn't like the "but" at the beginning of the second stanza. or the "just" for that matter... they feel unnecessary.

*rebelchic took all the words I planned on saying out of my mouth. Dang. Anyhoo. I was going to say, I love the insane hyperbole of throwing the flood, and the idea of hanging oneself out to dry... it's a beautiful image, I love it. Also, I love how it's this whole event and emotion entirely in the speaker's mind. The girl doesn't know and never will. To quote a famous play,"Unrequited love.... my favorite."

The only thing that bothered me was:
"glowing green signal that
it's safe to move again. "

I stumbled reading this... because my brain kept telling me that "says" was after that. So, I kept looking for it, and couldn't find it. then my brain imploded. Anyhoo, love this. +fav. Thanks for sharing it.

(For those who are curious, the quote is from Steel Magnolias the PLAY... Ouiser 4 life.)

"What wasted unconditional love on somebody who doesn't believe in the stuff... Oh, well."

Sex is like math: Add the bed, subtract the clothes, divide the legs, and pray to god you don't multiply. :giggle:

We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly

Great work on this!!

I think my favorite part is ...
silently, drenched in the
knowledge of every droplet

That is how I feel alot of the time lately, silent and drenched.

I think that you have some powerful and deeply felt poetry, and enjoy reading your work. So, I added this one to my +favs :) (Smile)
